   Now, let’s dive into today’s main topic. Today, I want to talk about why certain powerful figures, like some trumpers at the top, don’t want ordinary people reading books. Specifically, why they only want everyday people to know how to read, but nothing more.

To be frank, I think they’re evil because these leaders tell ordinary citizens that reading books is harmful, pushing the narrative that basic literacy is the only skill they need.

Now, are the everyday people who buy into this theory evil? No, I don’t believe so. The vast majority are not malicious; they are simply being manipulated and conditioned by those in power.

So, why do these figures want regular people to stop at basic literacy? In my opinion, individuals who only know how to read surface-level text are far easier to control and manipulate.

You might wonder: how could they be easier to manipulate than people who cannot read at all? Think about it. People who are completely illiterate often rely on firsthand observation, trusted local networks, and deeply ingrained oral traditions. They trust what they see and experience.

In contrast, those who consume text without a critical eye can be easily misled by organized, written propaganda. You might then ask, why don't they just question what they read?

It is because they have only been taught basic literacy. They can decode the words on a page and understand sentences at face value, but they cannot read between the lines. They lack the tools for critical analysis.

Why do they lack these tools? Because they don't read books. They have swallowed the lie that books are deceptive—especially history books. They have been convinced that reading books actually makes a person stupid.

But as I always say, my friends: yes, history books are often written by the victors. However, if you do not live in a dictatorship, there are multiple perspectives competing in the public square because two or more parties run the country. This means you have access to a vast array of books containing diverse stories and opposing opinions.

But if you live in a dictatorship, books only contain the specific narratives that the regime permits while any books that offer an alternative viewpoint are often banned by the government. And because of this, you’re forced to find creative ways just to read a different story.

If you don’t live in a dictatorship but still don’t trust the books published in your own country, you can always read books written and published abroad.

No matter what, my friends, you must read books. You must read them precisely because some evil people at the top don’t want you to. They want you to possess basic literacy, but they want to starve you of critical thinking.

However, because the world has changed, most people don’t even watch traditional TV anymore, let alone read newspapers. As a result, this old tactic—only letting people know how to read—isn't enough on its own.

This is exactly why Donald Trump has deployed a secondary tactic: constantly telling his followers that any media outlet reporting negative things about him is "fake news." He needs both non-readers and semi-literate people to listen exclusively to him and trust his word blindly.

It seems that their tactics adapt to the times. This is why you might not hear them openly telling you to stop at basic literacy as often as they used to.

Yet, they still know that reading books gives people the ability to think for themselves. Because they dread that independence, you still hear them claim that higher education is worthless and that reading books just makes you stupid.

They don’t want you to read because books train the mind to follow long, complex arguments. When you read a wide variety of books from different eras and authors, you naturally build your own internal library of frameworks. You begin to question, compare, and spot contradictions.

But they don’t want you to question, to think deeply. They don’t want a reading mind because a reading mind cannot be easily manipulated. That is why they constantly tell you that books are full of lies—convincing you that reading actually makes you stupid.

They want you to believe you are being smart by avoiding books. But the truth is, they just want you to lack the cognitive depth required to question their authority. They want to deny you the wisdom you deserve.

After all, intelligence is merely knowing a collection of facts. Wisdom is knowing how those facts connect—and that connection is what ultimately leads you to your own conclusions.
